Three Components of the Here For Good Project

Published by Greg Holmes, Communications Pastor at Chase Oaks Church

Because we live in a rapidly changing culture that is increasingly fragmented and cynical, we have a unique opportunity to fully embrace God’s urgent mission of love. Whether we are caring for needs in our community or creating opportunities for new people to experience God’s grace, we want everyone around us to know we are here for good.

Here For Good is an $8 million project that will allow us as a church to reach deep into our community to love and serve like never before. The three components of the Here For Good Project will help us bring hope to our community, engage in digital missions, and launch new campuses to reach people that no one is reaching.

Bring hope to our Community.

Launch the Local Good Center.

The Local Good Center will house an expanded Chase Oaks Family Center as well as initiatives to address issues of advocacy, health and nutrition services, and job creation.

  • Expand the capacity of the Chase Oaks Family Center. While many vulnerable families are finding the help they need here, so many others are being turned away because there is simply no more room. Expanding the size of the Chase Oaks Family Center will dramatically increase our ability to come alongside families in need.
  • Build New Initiatives Focused on Issues of Advocacy, Health and Nutrition, and Job Creation. Usually, Chase Oaks Church plays a resourcing role with community partners that are meeting community needs. With the Local Good Center, however, Chase Oaks will take a leadership role around issues we are uniquely equipped to address. We will provide help and support for kids “aging out” of the foster care system. We will focus on job creation as a way to help individuals and families who feel trapped in poverty. And, by addressing preventative health and nutrition needs, we will help struggling families to flourish and thrive.

Open the Local Good Café.

Local Good Café will be a venue that serves as a hub for common good on common ground. It will be a catalyst for good in the community and a place where people who have different beliefs can connect around things we all care about.

Engage in digital missions.

Digital spaces are no longer just the primary front door to our church; they have become legitimate ministry environments for transformation. Our reliance upon digital channels during the COVID-19 season has reinforced our belief in the importance of digital platforms and tools.  In order for us to effectively engage the people God has called us to love, we will invest more in these areas. These investments will enable us to broaden our reach, deepen our impact, and adjust quickly to an ever-changing culture.

Launch new campuses in partnership with the YMCA.

One of the most encouraging things to emerge from the pandemic has been our partnership with the YMCA. Chase Oaks is thrilled by the opportunity to utilize YMCA facilities as launching pads for new Chase Oaks campuses. Our Richardson Campus will relocate to the Richardson YMCA in 2020. Plans are underway to launch our next campus in McKinney in 2021, with two additional campuses launching shortly thereafter (locations TBD). One of those campuses will likely be our first regional campus outside of the north Dallas area.

As we come together to reach, serve, and love our community, ask God how He is inviting you to participate in the Here For Good Project. Stay tuned to our website for project updates and ideas for how you can be here for good in your neighborhood.
